Pencils for Peace hosts annual food drives during the holy month of Ramadan. 100% of the proceeds are used to provide families in Afghanistan with basic food items. Our supplies are distributed to poor families throughout the entire month. 

 

Last year, though our joint efforts, we were able to feed over 150 families. We provided them with enough supplies for three weeks. 

During the holy month of Ramadan, the spirit of giving and compassion is exemplified through Ramadan food drives. Communities come together, united in the pursuit of helping those in need. These charitable efforts aim to provide essential sustenance to the less fortunate, ensuring that they can break their fast with dignity and joy. Food drives take place in various forms, with mosques, community centers, and charitable organizations organizing collections of non-perishable food items and other necessities. Volunteers dedicate their time and energy, distributing the collected provisions to individuals and families struggling to make ends meet. The heartwarming sight of people from diverse backgrounds coming together, bound by their shared humanity, exemplifies the true essence of Ramadan—selflessness, empathy, and the desire to create positive change in the lives of others. Through these food drives, the bonds of compassion are strengthened, and the true blessings of Ramadan are shared with those most in need.
